About the DCARC

The Defiance County Amateur Radio Club has over 20 active members who volunteer their services to their community.

Under the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), Club members volunteer during a disaster or emergency. We assist with communications for:

  • Defiance County Emergency Management Agency
  • Ohio Emergency Management Service
  • Red Cross
  • Any other public service agencies that may request our assistance

Our members also participate in the NWS SKYWARN® Storm Spotter Program, a volunteer program to help keep local communities safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service.

The Club also provides assistance by providing communication services for area community events such as the United Way of Defiance County Balloon Festival, the Flat Rock Creek Festival, area walk/run/bike events, and works with local youth groups such as the Boy and Girl Scouts to advance the art and science of amateur radio.
